Kathryn Mary Jorgensen Kelsey 1915 ~ 2009 Kathryn Mary Jorgensen Kelsey, age 94, died peacefully October 21, 2009 at Residence CareSource. She was born January 8, 1915 in Salt Lake City in their new home--her father was Thorvald Jorgensen and her mother, Mary Paulina Woodyatt. She grew up in a very musical family and was a child prodigy, playing the violin at age four. She was in the first graduating class from South High, transferring there from East High. Kathryn won a piano scholarship to the U. She married Ruel Woolley Kelsey on his birthday, October 28, 1938, in the Salt Lake Temple. She played the organ for church and taught primary for many years. She helped deliver newspapers even when pregnant to help support the family. After raising her large family of seven children, she cared for many other children in her home and helped her husband with the Boy Scouts. She will be greatly missed by her large family. Survivors include her children: Stephen and Justine Goddard Kelsey, Alan and Renee Kelsey Fernelius, Jan and Patricia Kelsey Brady, Scott and Connie Hancock Kelsey, Douglas and Colleen Kelsey Carroll, and Kevin and Martha Evans Kelsey, as well as a daughter-in-law, Sally Kelsey. Preceded in death by her husband in 1987 and her son, Ruel Brent, in 2005. She leaves 34 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. Thanks to Residence CareSource for their excellent care. A viewing will be held Friday, Oct. 23, from 6-8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive, and services at Bryan Ward, 17th South 11th East, Saturday, October 24, at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing one hour prior to services. Betty Mae Tyler 1923 ~ 2009 Betty Mae Tyler, born in 1923, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2009. Betty was born a twin, along with her brother, Robert, in Salt Lake City, to Anna and Horace Durrant. After her graduation from South High School she attended business school. Betty married Harvey Jorgensen and they had three children: Jill, Terry and Tandra. She was self-sufficient and of strong character, due to adversity after the loss of her husband, and raising three children as a single parent, while working as a secretary in the insurance industry. In February, 1966 she married Phil Tyler in the LDS Temple. They moved to Idaho Falls, ID where they raised their combined family of eight children. As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held a firm testimony to the Savior. While raising her children and extended family, Betty showed great love by cooking and caring for neighbors and church members in need. Upon Phil's retirement, they moved to St. George, UT where she loved the warm, desert environment. Her great joy was socializing, playing cards and games, collecting dolls and antiques, and playing with her numerous dogs. Betty even joined a "Betty Club". She loved painting pictures including landscapes, flowers, and her pet poodles. Her garden was lovely with her devoted green thumb. Betty is survived by her children: Terry Jorgensen of Tucson, AZ; Tandra Jorgensen of Mountain View, CA; and Phillip Tyler of Phoenix, AZ; her twin brother, Robert Durrant of Salt Lake City; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Phil Tyler and her daughter Jill Brown. Betty lived the last 10 years in Mountain View, CA near her daughter Tandra. Even during difficult times, she was able to share her wit and wisdom, and a wonderful sense of humor was enjoyed by all who cared for her. A prolific reader, Betty found great comfort surrounded by books of many topics, and her favorites, romantic novels. One of her most profound gifts to her children was instilling in them the value of learning and higher education in order to succeed. 2. Wayne J. Meier “Skinny”
Wayne J. Meier passed away on September 13, 2009 at Cottonwood Heights, Utah. He was born on September 8, 1917 in Brigham City, Utah to Gerald A. Meier and Augusta Jorgensen Meier. He married Faye Roberts on January 25, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They enjoyed 62 years of caring, sharing and making memories together.
As a young boy his family moved from Brigham City to Salt Lake City. As a Boy Scout he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended East High School and Westminster College. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Utah State University. While in college he played on the football team and set numerous track and field records. In the 1930’s Wayne competed in international ski competitions as a ski jumper at Ecker Hill in Park City and Sun Valley Idaho. His name is included on a monument at Ecker Hill for his role in American Skiing History.
He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during World Ward II and later worked at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. for a short time.
Wayne met his wife Faye while they were both employed at Union Pacific Railroad. Immediately following their wedding they moved to Southern California, where Wayne worked as a manager for the Equitable Life Insurance Company. Upon returning to Salt Lake City, Wayne worked for Roberts Supply and retired after working 19 years at Hill Air Force Base.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hinting, camping, gardening, boating and traveling with friends and family in their motor home.
He was a faithful member of the LDS church and held many positions of responsibility.
Survived by his daughters Linda (Larry) Morgan, Chris Collier, Shelly (Troy) Winegar, his sons Terry (Carole) Meier and Steve (Shelly) Meier and his sister Beverly Everett. He had 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his loving and caring wife Faye, his parents, his sister Laura Acklin and brothers Dick Meier and Paul Meier.
A special thanks to the caring people at Rocky Mountain Hospice and the Wentworth Assisted Living Community for all they did for Wayne. Also a special thanks to a caring friend and home teacher Lee Price.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 18, at 11:00 am at Holladay 28th Ward 2725 East Milo Way (4930 South). Friends and family may visit on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Mountain View Memorial, 3115 East 7800 South and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment at Mountain View Memorial Cemetery.

Walter G. Everett, born January 19, 1923 in Bledsoe County, Tennessee, died May 30, 1993 at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah.
Born the son of Myrtle Hancock and Joseph Robert Everett, he married Beverly Jean Meier October 14, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II, and subsequently in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Walt retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1976 where he was employed as Chief of Foreign Military Sales.
Walter was a Past Master and life member of Gateway Lodge #29, F&AM of Utah, a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of Utah, El Monte Commandary Ogden York Rite Bodies, El Kalah Shrine Temple AAONMS, and the Royal Order of Scots. He was currently serving the Grand Lodge of Utah as Senior Grand Deacon. Walt recently was Commissioned Grand Representative of the Grand Lodge of Tennessee to the Grand Lodge of Utah. He was also serving as Chairman of Clearfield Chapter Order of DeMolay adult council and had served continuously since the Chapter's inception in 1965. He was appointed the first Associate Guardian of Bethel 15 and later Bethel 19 of Clearfield, Utah, International Order of Job's Daughters, serving the Grand Guardian Council of Utah as Associate Grand Guardian in 1971, and Past Associate Guardian of Grand Bethel of Utah. He was currently serving Bethel # 19, as Guardian Treasurer. His life had been devoted to the young people, many times laying aside his own personal desires to further instruct and participate in the activities of their organizations and had been accorded many honors by his fellow Masons. Walt was a charter member of Beth Arabah Chapter # 24, Order of Eastern Star, of Clearfield.
The past few years had been devoted to spreading the word of the greatest Philanthropy, the Shrine Hospitals. He personally sponsored many children to the Intermountian Unit. He was a member of the El Kalah Klunkers, driving the streets of many small towns in Utah to bring joy to children and news of the Shrine to people who did not knwo that they sought to do good for children everywhere. The young people whose lives he touched will remember him always for his devotion to the principles of Free Masonry, the youth organizations, and the philanthropy of the Shrine.
He is survived by his loving wife of Clearfield; an children, Marion and Kelly Barton of Lake Forest, Calif.; and Gerald and Leslie Everett of Ogden. His four grandchildren were the spokes in the wheel of life that made him turn; Dustin and Amanda Barton, Brandon and Nicole Everett, shall miss his tender loving guiding hand. He is also survived by a sister, Ada Belle Brown of Pikeville, Tenn. Other siblings surviving are Herbert D. Everett, James R. Everett, Laurta Shaw, of Battle Creek, Mich.; Ralph W. Everett of Dayton, Tenn.; Doris D. Higgins and Katie G. Tomlinson of Nicevile, Flor.
Funeral services will be held Wednesaday, 11 a.m., at the Lindquist Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., where friends may call Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services Wednesday. Services will be conducted by Gateway Lodge #29, F& AM, with Roger Martin presiding as Worshipful Master. Interment, Lindquist Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch. Military honors will be accorded.
The family has requested, that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Intermaountain Unit, Shrine Hospital, Fairfax, and Virginia streets, SLC, Ut.

Paul J. Meier passed away February 25, 2003 in Salt Lake City, UT.
He born on March 16, 1921 in Brigham City, Utah to Gerald A. Meier and Augusta Jorgenson Meier. He married Dora Anderson, later divorced. The family later moved to Salt Lake City where he attended high school at East High and the University of Utah. He served his country in both the Navy, Army, and Air Force during the second World War.
Survived by daughters, Lynda (Phil) Peterson and Susan (Leroy) Everett, brother Wayne Meier, and sister Beverly Everett. He had four grandchildren who were his pride and joy and who he loved very dearly. Last but certainly not least he is survived by 11 great-grand-children. Preceded in death by his parents, his sister Laura Acklin and brother Richard Meier.
His motto? "Mourn me today, miss me tomorrow, remember me for the rest of our life."
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 1, 2003 at 12 noon at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. 10600 So. A viewing will be held for friends and family one hour prior to services at the Mortuary. Interment to follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.

Waldemar Jack Eliason, of Holladay, age 84, devoted husband, respected father, beloved grandfather and great-grandfather, passed from this existence on October 1, 1996 to a better one, where loved ones will greet him. He passed away at the home of his daughter and son-in-law after
enduring an extended illness.
Born January 18, 1912 in Brigham City, the only surviving child of Walt and Lavon Eliason. Married the love of his life, his eternal companion, Merle Jenson, November 23, 1934. Solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She preceded him in death June 25, 1986, and it is comforting to know he is with her and their Father in Heaven.
They were the parents of three children, Sharon (Merwin) Jensen, Bruce (Eileen) Eliason, Dean (Patrice) Eliason, all of Sandy.
Educated in Brigham City. Retired as Director of Safety from Utah Power & Light after 37 years of service where he was known as a "Lineman's friend". Traveled extensively. Loved all sports, especially football, basketball and baseball, with an amazing knowledge of names and players and coaches, and the game scores. High Priest in the LDS Church. Dad was not one to procrastinate or to be late. Resident of Holladay since 1949, where his home and yard were an asset to the neighborhood. Special thanks to Julius Hoggard, a caring friend.
This being his wishes, a viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 4th and Saturday 10-11 a.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State St. in Murray. A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 5th at 2 p.m. at the Brigham City Cemetery.
